January 30, 2007 - Dear Friends of the Nugget Amateur Challenge, All of us at the Nugget have been proud to present the John Ascuaga’s Nugget Amateur Challenge for the past seven years. The event has brought unprecedented focus on golf to the region and helped establish the Reno/Tahoe area as a premier golf destination in the country. After numerous discussions regarding the future of the event, we made the difficult decision to no longer host the John Ascuaga’s Nugget Amateur Challenge and cancel the 2007 summer tournament. We have made so many great friends along the way and want to thank you all for spending time with us at the Nugget. The thousands of participants and guests who came from all over the country—many to the region for the first time; the golf courses who played host to the many, many rounds of golf; the sponsors who supported the event; and the dedicated volunteers and staff who made everything run so smoothly are to be commended for putting on one of the best tournaments anywhere. The memories we’ve made together will be cherished for years to come. We are glad you took this journey with us and we hope that you will continue to visit John Ascuaga’s Nugget.
